An educational seminar for 100 boys from Khan Younis entitled "Integrated Solid Waste Management"

The JSC-KRM in co-operation with Culture & Free Thought Association, an educational seminar was held for 100 participants in the summer camp.

The seminar was delivered by Eng. Samir Matar environmental specialist in the MDLF, has mentioned the preferences of solid waste management and the correct and erratic behavior in solid waste disposal, in addition to explaining the details and components of the new solid waste management project.

In the social aspect of the seminar, Eng. Enas Qandeel, the Public Information and Outreach Officer in JCS-KRM, spoke about the role of the council, municipality and citizen in protecting the living from solid waste pollution. She called on the youth to activate their role as initiators in the community to monitor the wrong behaviors of waste disposal process in their living places, and contributing in solving and reporting it.

It is noteworthy that such community activities come within the framework of enhancing community participation and raising population awareness. It is one of the elements of the second component of the solid waste management project in the Gaza Strip implemented by the MDLF for the benefit of the JSC-kRM and funded by the World Bank, the European Union and the French Agency for Development.
